Earn your Pennsylvania Boater’s Safety Certificate!

At Peters Marine Service, we offer the Pennsylvania Boater’s Safety Course periodically throughout the year and the cost is FREE! The class takes about eight hours and is usually split between two Saturdays. Down below is the next upcoming course and FAQs about the both the course and certificate. All classes are taught by a licensed and current Boater’s Safety teacher. Don’t forget to call or email us about placing your name on the list!

Who can attend this course?
Any PA resident 12 years of age or older.

Is this required to operate a PWC (Jet Ski) in Pennsylvania?
Yes, this certificate is required to operate a PWC in Pennsylvania.

Is this required to operate a motorboat in Pennsylvania?
Yes, if you were born after January 1st, 1982.

Is this course recognized nationwide?
Yes, the PA Safety Education Course is recognized nationwide.

How does NJ state differ with boater’s safety?
The State of New Jersey requires a Safety Certificate for all ages.

After I complete the course & pass the test, what do I receive?
You can receive a temporary certificate. You may apply for a permanent card once you submit a $10 check to the PA Fish & Boat Commission.

Am I required to go to both courses?
Yes! Both days are required so that you can receive your certificate.
